Two new design engineers join the Rotary Power team

Posted: 9th December 2021

UK manufacturer Rotary Power has recently employed two design engineers to join the team based in the North East of England.

Working on a range of hydraulic motors and pumps, the new design engineers will support the current team with an increase in demand from sectors including; construction, agriculture and forestry, marine and offshore, and chemical.

After the business saw stable sales prior to the pandemic, particularly with its mobile hydraulic XJ range, sales like many other businesses dropped during the global lockdown. However, the rate of recovery has exceeded expectations and has led to a requirement for the business to expand its workforce.

With a wealth of experience working in mechanical design and project engineering roles with Vickers Defence Systems (BAE Systems), Royal IHC, Komatsu, and Baric Systems, David and Keith will initially provide support to the sales department to organise proposal drawings whilst they learn about the product ranges.

A familiar face at Rotary Power, Keith worked on the shop floor and development offices after graduating from university and later worked at sister company, BEL Valves. He then became a senior mechanical design engineer and later undertook contractual work in mechanical and design engineering projects.

New to Rotary Power, David worked for Vickers Defence Systems for 21 years, designing components for a range of applications including the British Army Challenger 2 Tank. He later worked as a senior engineer in the maritime and construction industries.

David said: “I’ve used hydraulic motors in systems that I have designed previously so I have a good understanding of how they work. It will be interesting to work on the internal parts having only seen the completed motors before. I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

David and Keith will spend the next couple of months getting up to speed with new software systems and the re-design of a current motor.

Keith said: “Rotary Power motors are designed to a high standard and I look forward to getting involved in the design and development process once again.”

We wish David and Keith all the best in their new roles.
